Work commences on £1.1 million medical centre for Woolwich
Work has commenced on a new £1.1 million state of the art health centre at Berkeley’s flagship Royal Arsenal Riverside development in Woolwich.
The 10,581 sq ft centre, located at The Armouries, Arsenal Way, is being delivered by H-Med in conjunction with support and funding expertise from JV partner MedicX; a leading UK specialist investor in, developer of and manager of healthcare property.
The scheme has been designed in close consultation with Berkeley and Burrage Road GP Practice, and will include four consulting rooms, five GP rooms, a minor surgery room, two nurse treatment rooms, a medical library and research facilities, in addition to a range of office and management suites.
John Anderson, Chairman of Berkeley Homes (Urban Renaissance) Ltd comments: “The new health centre is a fantastic addition to the onsite facilities at Royal Arsenal Riverside and really enforces the message that this is a prime location not only for a new home but also a new lifestyle. Importantly, the centre will give Burrage Road GP Practice new and much needed modern premises to operate from and deliver a first class service to the local community.”
Tony Coke, Southern Regional Director of MedicX says, “MedicX is delighted to be working with the team at H-Med on this prestigious development. This is a great example of delivering modern healthcare centres within budget and providing an innovative range of services to local communities. We are confident that the users of this new centre will be impressed with the end result when it opens in October.”
Nick Bastian on behalf of H-Med concludes: “This has been a really exciting project for all involved, especially given the development’s unique location and the surrounding architecture of Grade I and Grade II buildings. We are thrilled with the progress to date and what will be achieved over the next 12 weeks.”
