Work gets underway on Caerphilly health and social care centre

Building work has started on a new purpose-built health and social care facility on the Lawn Industrial Estate in Rhymney.

On completion, the new centre will provide improved access to healthcare services for communities in the North of Caerphilly County Borough and will include two GP practices, a dental practice and optometry suite.

The 40,000 sq ft centre will also act as a base for health and social care staff working in the North of the borough, who provide care to a wide range of clients including children, older people and those receiving mental health support. It will provide 12 in-patient beds, two of which will be designated for palliative care.

A Community Forum, made up of local residents, voluntary organisations, councillors as well as health and social care professionals, has been involved throughout planning process, to ensure a local say on the facilities offered. Further meetings of the Community Forum will be scheduled as the project progresses.

The centre is being developed by MedicX, a leading UK investor and developer of healthcare premises and is expected to open summer 2013.

Mayoral opening of new MedicX developed health centre

Councillor Amrit Mann, Mayor of the London Borough of Hounslow, officially opens The Meadows Centre for Health.The new £5.7 million, 13,000 sq ft, state of the art medical centre for Hounslow, named The Meadows Centre for Health, was officially opened by the Mayor of the London Borough of Hounslow, Councillor Amrit Mann, at a ceremony held Monday 30 April. 

The Greenbrook Medical Practice on Chinchilla Drive has relocated to the new purpose-built centre which was developed by MedicX, a leading investor in and developer of UK healthcare property, and delivered in partnership with NHS Hounslow and Places for People. 

Alongside the relocation of the existing local medical practice, The Meadows Centre for Health also incorporates a pharmacy and a range of community based health services.

MedicX developed health centre wins award accolade

Heath House Medical Centre recieves the main award at the 2012 Halifax Civic Trust Awards.The MedicX developed Boulevard Medical Practice on Savile Park Road, in Halifax, received the main award at the 2012 Halifax Civic Trust Awards, held at Halifax Town Hall on Thursday 26 April.  This annual awards ceremony recognises quality in local building design, construction and refurbishment.  Halifax has a rich heritage and the third highest number of listed buildings after London and Liverpool. 

The new health centre is located in a refurbished and extended, Grade II listed building, on the site of the former Holy Trinity School and incorporates a pharmacy, nine consulting rooms, three treatment rooms and a health education room.

Construction of new health centre progressing well

Construction of the new 28,000 sqft purpose-built healthcare centre for the patients of Raynes Park is progressing well.On completion, two existing local GP surgeries will both relocate to the new £9 million, state-of-the-art medical centre being developed on Lambton Road by MedicX, in conjunction with Exel Group.

Designed by architects Mountford Pigott, the new medical centre is expected to open in the autumn and will include GP rooms, consulting rooms, minor surgery rooms and nurse treatment rooms, alongside a medical library, research facilities as well as office and management suites.

The existing practice’s patient list size has almost doubled in the last 25 years, the new medical centre will provide much needed healthcare facilities for the community. These will include extended consulting room suites and nurse treatment rooms, together with the ability to accommodate a range of visiting clinicians.

New health centre for Monkseaton starts on site

Construction of the new £2.8 million Monkseaton Medical Centre in Whitley Bay is now underway, due for completion October 2012. The 1,080 sq m state-of-the-art centre, which is being developed by MedicX, will be located on land directly adjacent to the existing medical centre in Cauldwell Avenue, Monkseaton, which will then be demolished and converted into parking for 37 cars.

Construction of new health centre in Methil commences

Construction of the new medical centre in Methil, Fife commenced January 2012, with completion autumn 2012.The 720 sq m centre, being developed by MedicX, will be located on the Methil Docks Business Park and will replace the existing practice in old Victorian premises. 

The £2 million state-of-the-art centre will provide extended GP consulting and nurse treatment suites, minor ops and health education facilities, together with meeting and training rooms for the staff. In addition, there will be a new onsite pharmacy.

The Meadows Centre for Health welcomes first patients

The impressive £5.7 million, 13,000sqft new state of the art medical centre for Hounslow, weclomed its first patients this month. The modern, purpose-built centre, located on Chinchilla Drive, was developed by MedicX in partnership with NHS Hounslow and Places for People, incorporates the relocation of the existing Greenbrook Medical Centre as well as a pharmacy and a range of community based health services for the health benefit of the local population.

Ground breaking event for new East Cowes Medical Centre

MedicX held a groundbreaking event this November to celebrate the start of construction of a new medical centre for East Cowes.The modern, purpose-built centre, located on the recently complted Town Square was developed by MedicX in partnership with NHS Isle of Wight and is the latest phase in the regeneration of the former GKN Works at East Cowes. The scheme was brought forward by a number of local partners, including NHS Isle of Wight, the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), to offer a centralised location for local doctors and staff to provide an improved service for patients and the local community. The site transferred from SEEDA to the HCA in September, and the agency will use its experience of managing regeneration projects to continue to support local partners. 

When complete, Dr Andrews & Partners GP Practice in York Avenue will relocate to the new centre, which will also house PCT dental services, podiatry, a local district nurse team as well as various PCT-led clinics and a new pharmacy.

Milestone achieved at Bilborough

Bilborough’s new Grange Farm Medical Centre, located in state-of-the-art premises on Tremayne Road, Nottingham celebrated milestone. The MedicX developed centre, occupied by Dr Helen Hollis, Dr Nina Ray and Dr Nadeem Sarwar reached 1,000 patients, having opened their doors to NHS patients in March 2011.

To celebrate their success, the practice asked their 1,000^th patient to formally open the centre at an unveiling party. All patients and staff were presented with an open invitation to the event; providing food, drink, face painting for children and games such as bingo. Over 100 patients and staff attended the event, enjoying activities laid on and leaving comments to the MedicX team as to how impressed they were with the building and facilities.

Kylie Walls, the lucky 1,000^th patient, who runs a local slimming world club commented:

“It was an honor to officially open the Grange Farm Medical Centre as the 1,000^th patient. The facilities are fantastic and offer the community exactly what we need.”

Grange Farm Medical Centre offers patients a large waiting room, baby feed and change facilities, 9 clinical rooms and a large Health Education room. Appointments are available throughout the day, including late night on Wednesdays, whilst recently expanded services include a new drop-in GP clinic and a nurse-led minor illness clinic.
