Dr Tavaré and Partners
South Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trust
Outdated and overcrowded premises led Dr Tavaré and Partners to approach MedicX to secure an already identified site upon which to construct a new purpose built health centre.
The land assembly for this project posed a considerable challenge to the MedicX team. However, all their hard work paid off when they negotiated the acquisition of a site from a local charity. This land was occupied by local allotment holders who agreed to move to an adjacent area.

MedicX undertook this relocation and even added enhanced services to the new allotment site. Sawston and the surrounding villages now benefit from a new health centre and the allotment holders benefit from better services.
The doctors, senior staff and primary care trust were involved in each stage of the design of the new premises, ensuring that they offer the best facilities and add care to the communities they serve.
The new health centre provides accommodation for existing medical staff and more. New benefits include a large dispensary, a fully equipped minor operations suite and nurse treatment rooms, as well as chiropody, physiotherapy and health education suites. The premises also include several energy saving systems that reduce running costs and the buildings environmental impact.
What we achieved
- Consulting room and full ancillary accommodation for up to ten doctors
- Floor area 2400 m²
- Community nursing team base
- Treatment and minor ops facilities
- Physiotherapy / Chiropody suite
- Dispensary
- Paramedics
- Car parking for 95 cars
- Completed June 2006
